But it’s not a solo release. Vishal Bhardwaj’s highly anticipated flick <b>Haider</b> starring <b>Shahid Kapoor</b>, Shraddha Kapoor, Tabu, Kay Kay Menon and Irrfan Khan is also releasing simultaneously. Since it’s a five day weekend (the longest one this year) both the films should ideally do good business. However, they both have their own advantages and disadvantages. While Bang Bang is a commercial film, Haider isn’t a conventional Bollywood film. And though a Vishal Bhardwaj film always garners critical acclaim, it never witnesses an earth shattering opening at the ticket windows. And this could very well be the case with his latest offering, hai na peeps?<br /><br />On the flip side, despite being not such a typical Hindi film, the Shahid-Shraddha starrer has managed to create great buzz. Also, the film’s music has been appreciated widely. Not to forget, team Haider left no stone unturned in promoting their film. As for Bang Bang, the promotional strategy of the film wasn’t really aggressive and neither did the lead pair go all out to market their action thriller. In this case, Bhardwaj’s revenge-drama surely has an upper hand.<br /><br />But the big question still remains – which film will race ahead in the numbers game? Well, wethinks the box office battle is well poised for now. Also, Bang Bang and Haider belong to two completely different genres so the makers of both the films don’t have to worry about their target audience.</div>

Directed by Krishna Vamsi, this film will see Ram Charan and Kajal in lead roles. After a  lot of promotions, this family entertainer has hit the theatres today. Our reviewer Subramanian Harikumar is watching the film at the moment and has sent us his first impression of the film.<br /><br />Subramanian says “GAV tells the story of Balraju played by Prakash Raj, who is the head of a small village suffering from dearth of medicines and doctors. When his doctor son wants to move to America for a better life instead of serving the poor in the village, Prakash Raj severs all ties with his son. Years later, Balraju’s grandson, Abhiram played by Ram Charan, returns to India to reunite the prodigal son with his angry father Balraju. Once he reaches the village, he gets acquainted to the big family of Balraju and falls for his aunt’s daughter played by Kajal Aggarwal. Does Abhiram succeed in reuniting his father with his grandfather forms the rest of the story. The cinematography is brilliant and the film boasts grand production value. But alas same cannot be said about the story which is filled with clichés which we have already seen in multiple family dramas in the past. Prakash Raj gives a strong performance as an angry old man who doesn’t forgive. Ram Charan does a decent job but his expressions leave you with lot to be desired. Kajal Aggarwal aptly adds the oomph quotient in the film. The chemistry between the two leads is not so great.
