Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif are in a relationship, they are working together in films, they are spending time with each other, they are in a live-in relationship, they are engaged and soon-to-be-married. Despite being in a steady relationship with Ms Kaif for almost three years now and living in with her, there is a suspicion as far as RK’s marriage is concerned. People often assume that Ranbir si not ready for marriage, at least not yet! This despite the actor stating, “I want to have a family, have children. So, when I get engaged, I will certainly announce it.” The fact that there’s a belief that this relationship might not make it to the altar.<br /><br /># Career: Both these actors are at the peak of their career and are equally ambitious. It’s up to the individual…how much he or she is interested in pursuing and developing art.” Clearly, the fact that these two individuals have a life beyond being in love makes it difficult for gossip mongers to understand that they are ready to wait until the right time comes.<br /><br />Like Ranbir’s dad Rishi Kapoor told in a recent interview, the couple recently moved in together and marriage is definitely on cards. Hence, next time you hear Katrina and Ranbir are engaged – either wait for an official announcement or then some pictures. Aamir Khan recently celebrated his 50th birthday and though he told us during a media interaction that he is 22 at heart, I feel the actor is acting his age. Before I write further, let me tell you guys that I am an ardent Aamir Khan fan. I do believe the kind of cinema he does is brilliant. There is no denying the fact that he is one of the most sought after actors in Bollywood today. In fact, he is the only one who gets cash registers jingling without extensively promoting his films. That’s Aamir Khan, the actor, and I love him. But then we also have Aamir Khan who has been voicing his opinion on everything – From AIB Roast to the kind of content kids are exposed to these days. Well, its good to be opinionated but more often or not people don’t like hearing opinions on each and every thing. So its time AK relaxed a bit and maybe concentrate on the following things…<br /><br /><b>Practice what you preach</b><br /><br />At the annual FICCI Frames, the Dangal actor lashed out at the industry for not coming up with good content for kids. He said, “If you look at our children’s content, it’s almost negligible, and the little that I see is very scary. It scares me to see the kind of children’s content they are making.” Now here’s a good point made by Aamir but isn’t he a part of the industry as well? Doesn’t he make movies too? Oh I forgot, he gave us Taare Zameen Par but wasn’t that way back in 2007?  Mr Perfectionist, if you feel so strongly about kids content then why not make more films for them? In fact, if you do then the rest will follow suit but consistency is the key here and I am pretty sure Aamir you would agree on this at least. After all, how many times will a kid see the same film again and again.<br /><br /><b>Follow your wifey Kiran Rao</b><br /><br />Okay, so if Aamir can’t make more films for kids or can’t do enough about the content they are forced to consumed then he should probably follow his wifey Kiran Rao’s footsteps. The Dhobi Ghat director went all out to support and promote Indie film Ship of Theseus because that’s the kind of cinema she believes in. If Aamir wants good films to be made for kids then he could just support and encourage filmmakers who are indeed trying to make films for kids. Animated films like Roadside Romeo and Delhi Safari have been made in India for kids and this is another space which Aamir could explore if he is so worried and if does, I know he will pull it off too. But he needs to ‘DO’.<br /><br /><b>No hypocrisy please</b><br /><br />Remember Aamir produced a film called Delhi Belly four years back? Yes, it was an adult comedy which had filthy language and even a song tiled Bhaag DK Bose DK Bose. Now you really don’t have to be a rocket scientist to figure out what these phrases of the song mean. So when you can incorporate such a song in your own film, and mind you, songs are played on every medium which even kids are exposed to, then why have a problem with AIB Roast? Also, your song falls in the scary content category which kids shouldn’t be exposed to.<br /><br /><b>Time to excuse the ‘Mr Perfectionist’ tag</b><br /><br />Just a few days back, AK publicly apologised to Kamal Haasan for not standing by him during the whole Vishwaroopam controversy which happened in 2013. Haasan had a tough time releasing his film as many demanded a ban on the film. So at the annual FICCI Frames Aamir said, “I take this opportunity to apologize to you, Mr. Kamal Haasan, for not standing by you when your film was banned in 2013. I was lost in my work. But, I want to apologize to you that I wasn’t there at that time. I read about it later and felt so bad about it, that you had to go through all that. I think we all filmmakers should stand by each other in such cases and I should have supported you during those trying times.” First of all, the whole Vishwaroopam episode happened two years back, so why recall it now? And its okay if you couldn’t help Kamal Haasan, After all, you’re HUMAN and not Rajinikanth. Aamir you can’t be everywhere doing everything right. The series was a game show which incorporated the aam janta and Bollwyood celebs in one frame. The format of the show was based on the celebrity guests coming in and choosing people from the given options. The selected people would then question the celebrities  and the latter would play to earn money and donate it to various charities.<br /><br />Today was the finale of the game show which saw the likes of Anushka Sharma, Alia Bhatt, Karan Johar and Farah Khan. The four celebrites were invited to play the game for charity and might we add that they did a splendid job indeed! Be it the shaanapan or koti pe choti round, Alia, Anushka and the others played well and earned big bucks towards the end. But we can’t miss the subtle manner in which SRK was pulling Kjo’s leg! The actor was asked by a contestant on how many times he has seen his own film Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham to which SRK turned to Kjo and replied,” I didn’t undestand the film!”<br /><br />Lol! At this moment Kojo’s expression was truly priceless and the audience was left in splits. Coming to Alia and Anushka, the two beauties proved that they do not like to give up. They were constantly at par with Farah and Karan who were in the opposing team and gave a tough fight to the latter as well. The episode ended with the four dancing on Alia’s hit number Saturday Saturday!<br /><br />All in all, the finale episode of India Poochega Sabse Shaana Kaun was worth a watch and we would miss SRK as the witty, hilarious and intelligent host on the small screen. The Cover reveal of Scion of Ikshvaku, the first book of the Ram Chandra Series from literary popstar Amish took place in Mumbai today. Bollywood Superstar, Akshay Kumar, unveiled the intriguing cover design during a press conference.<br /><br />Designed by creative agency Think Why Not, the cover depicts a distraught Ram shooting at Ravaan’s Pushpak Vimaan as it speeds away into the clouds, carrying his beloved Sita. As with his earlier book covers for the Shiva Trilogy, Amish has embellished the cover of Scion of Ikshvaku with a few ancient symbols that act as clues for his millions of readers to embark on a hunt to decipher his symbolic codes and discover the rich folklore of Indian mythology. Use of Symbology has been inherent in all his covers in the Shiva Trilogy as well. For example, on the spine of The Immortals of Meluha (Book 1 of the Shiva Trilogy), he has used the earliest discovered depiction of Lord Shiva in the form of the Pashupati seal, which was found in the Indus Valley civilisation.<br /><br />In his usual enigmatic style Amish remarked, “The cover has many symbolic elements seamlessly integrated into its core, with the intent to maintain the high standards of visual appeal that we have set with my earlier book covers. Many of these symbols on the cover and through the books are clues to my stories for those well-versed with Indian scriptures. Of course the cover has to look good as well! I am very lucky that a fantastic team worked hard to make this cover design to a very high quality standard,” he added.<br /><br />Gautam Padmanabhan, CEO Westland Ltd. was also present for the unveiling and announced that Scion of Ikshvaku is slated for release on June 22, 2015 and the pre-order goes live on the same day as the cover launch i.e. March 27, 2015! Amish’s readers can now pre-book their copies online exclusively on a popular e-commerce portal or at the nearest bookstore. When asked about his expectations from the new series he said “Amish’s first series The Shiva Trilogy has over 2.2 million copies in print, and gross retail sales of over Rs 60 crores, making it the fastest-selling book series in Indian publishing history. He is one of the topmost Indian authors of the 21st Century and we are confident that his next series too will be a blockbuster bestseller.”<br /><br />It was after months of speculation and incessant queries from readers that Amish had finally revealed the subject of his next book and along with it, the new series that he is planning to write at the Jaipur Literary Festival in January this year.  Millions of hearts were broken into pieces when news about Shahid Kapoor getting married to Delhi-based girl Mira Rajput hit the wires couple of days back. Word also had it that the duo got engaged on January 14, Makar Sankranti. However, the Haider actor chose to keep mum on this development, until today. Yes, at the ongoing HT Style Awards, Kapoor was probed by the media about his much-talked about engagement. Surprisingly he didn’t avoid the queries and instead confirmed the news by saying, “I’m not engaged yet but marriage is on cards this December. Please co-operate with me, I will let you know about everything soon.” Wow! Right from the horse’s mouth, as they say.<br /><br />For those of you who don’t know, Mira is currently completing her BA Honors in English from Delhi’s Lady Shri Ram College. Reportedly, 21 years old, Mira is a South Delhi resident and belongs to the same religious faith as Shahid. The posters of Soojit Sircar’s upcoming film Piku are out, and although they look quite simple, yet they are very interesting, I have to admit. It features film’s lead cast Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone and Irrfan Khan, who are looking nothing but adorable.<br /><br />In the first poster, Piku (Deepika) is seen holding a tray with her Baba’s (Amitabh) medicine and fruits. Irrfan Khan is holding over his head an SUV and Sr Bachchan looks adorable giving that expression, while sitting on a suitcase.</div>

Hollwyood director John Woo sent an appreciation mail to Rajkumar Hirani. The director is known for films like Face Off, Broken Arrow and Wind Talker.<br /><br />John Woo and Rajkumar Hirani had met last year at the Beijing International Film Festival, where both were a part of the jury. During their meet there, they had spoken about each others work at length.John Woo is one of those directors who communicates with people only via mail. Since their first meeting in Beijing, they have been in on and off in conversation with each other.<br /><br />While Rajkumar Hirani was in China for the launch of PK, he had sent a mail to John so that they could meet up, but as the director was out of town they could not catch up. Rajkumar Hirani was surprised when he later received a mail from John. It was a very long letter where he told Raju that he had watched PK and he liked it a lot. He wrote everything from what he likes to what he thought of the film. The PK filmmaker confirmed this and said, “It was heartening to receive the letter from John. When we met last year, we discussed PK. I am very glad that he liked the film.”

If you have watched the trailer of Dibakar Banerjee’s Detective Byomkesh Bakshy, you never really know what to expect from the film, which comes off as so different from the regular B-town flicks. With that same feeling of uncertainty, I plugged in my earphones to check out what the music is like. Oh Boy! It is an exhilarating experience or what? Composed by 8 different musicans and bands, the album has a distinct indie feel to it, at times reminding me of soundtrack of Bejoy Nambiar’s David. So fasten your seat belts, as I take you through the musical world of Sushant Singh Rajput’s Byomkesh Bakshy<br /><br /><b>Calcutta Kiss</b><br /><br />Fast. Upbeat. Jazzy. That’s how the first song from the album is. Sung by Saba Azad and Imaad Shah, the song composed and written by Madboy/Mink will make you put on your dancing shoes. The track kicks off with an impressive piece of drums, followed by saxophone sounds, paving way for Saba Azad to croon this jazzy number with quirky, rhyming lyrics. What I liked the most is the fusion of jazz and dub step beats it has. The soundtrack is mixed well and has a flow of an appealing tune and melody. The song manages to take us to the era of 40’s club music. Byomkesh Bakshy album off to a good start.<br /><br /><b>Bach Ke Bakshy</b><br /><br />The drum beats from Calcutta Kiss follow in this track. Composed by Sneha Khanwalkar and Dibakar Banerjee himself, Bach Ke Bakshy boasts an unconventional mix of singers Gowri Jayakumar, Big Deal, Thomson Andrews, Trevor, Smokey the Ghosht, Craz Professa to churn an unconventional song bursting with energy. The song kicks off with drums being played in such a pattern that it reminded me of a machine gun. The song quickly gets into rap mode, which I have to say is brilliant. But what I loved the most is ‘Bach Ke Bakshy’ chorus and Gowri Jayakumar’s rendition which are haunting yet captivating. The fusion of fast paced rap and haunting melody, makes this track stand out. I bet you wouldn’t have heard something like this in ages.<br /><br /><b>Byomkesh in Love</b><br /><br />Next in the album is Byomkesh in Love, which is a fine example of western music and Indian classical singing can go hand in hand. Composed by Blek, the song is sung wonderfully by trio of singers Rishi Bradoo, Anil Bradoo and Usri Banerjee. The song starts of like a pop number from the west and has very band music feel to it. Packed with electric guitar riffs, drums, and a little dub step and techno beat here and there, the song is enjoyable till now. But the song actually transcends to something more deep when Usri Banerjee’s slow classical singing manages to play with strings of your heart. When Usri’s soulful singing is fused with all the electronic beats and western sounds, what we get is pure bliss.<br /><br /><b>Jaanam</b><br /><br />Next is a waltzy number straight out of a retro Bollywood flick. This romantic track composed by Delhi based band Peter Cat Recording Co., the song will take you back to ballroom dancing era with accordion clearly dominating all the other instruments. The only thing which is little absurd is Suryakant Sawhney’s vocals which doesn’t seem to be apt for the genre of the song. Having said that the song has a lazy elegance and I consider it one of the underdogs in an brilliantly composed Byomkesh Bakshy album.<br /><br /><b>Chase In Chinatown</b><br /><br />Next is a hardcore rock number, which will make you swing like a coke addict who are found a huge stash of cocaine. Composed by Bangalore based band Mode AKA, Chase in Chinatown boasts elements of heavy metal with electric guitar, drums and dub step, building the mood for some hoarse screaming like singing. So get ready for some head banging with Chase In Chinatown. Having said that this intense song is not everyone’s cup of tea and I wont be surprised if an edgy number like this gets lost in plethora of typical Bollywood songs.<br /><br /><b>Life’s A bitch</b><br /><br />Ah Catchy song title ain’t it? Well the song is every bit catchy as the title. Life’s A Bitch composed by Joint family and sung by Akshay De is again a heavy metal number, which has an overpowering angry feel to it. Coupled with some incredible electric guitar riffs and exciting drum beats, the song exudes an aura of frustration which has been beautifully captured by the growling, gruffy voice of Akshay De.<br /><br /><b>Yang Guang Lives</b><br /><br />Get ready to be spooked with Yang Guang Lives. This final number in an eventful album lives up to the edginess of the film. The song composed and sung by IJA, the song has eerie feel to it. Haunting sounds coupled with whispery singing makes the song stand out, creating an atmosphere of mystery.

Tonight’s episode of<em> <b>Farah </b>Ki <b>Daawat</b></em><b> </b>saw <b>Sonakshi Sinha </b>as
 the celebrity guest. Tonight was a special one for Sona as she was 
officially entering a kitchen and cooking for the first time! Boy talk 
about living like a princess eh? The actress revealed that she doesn’t 
know the “C of cooking,” to the extent of being unaware on how to make a
 simple beverage like Tea!<span id="more-486708"></span>But Sona was all
 geared up to turn the tables around for herself and walk away by 
learning something from tonight’s episode. To help her, host of the show
 Farah Khan had invited Sona’s mother Poonam Sinha, who very graciously 
accepted the challenge of teaching her daughter a dish or two. The 
maa-beti duo got to work and decided to make Sindhi Curry for tonight’s 
daawat. They named it ‘Sinha Sindhi Kadi.’ Creative indeed.<br />

Things however got heated, on a literal and emotional level when Sona
 was seen losing her patience behind the counter and getting into an 
argument with her mother. Nah folks, its not what you think! Sona was 
seen telling her mother that she was confused on what to do and the 
latter asked her to pay attention.The nok jhok was infact a friendly one
 and was ended by Farah who asked the duo to move on from their silly 
banter and focus on cooking.Things ended on a positive note when some 
delicious looking ‘Sinha Sindhi Kadi’ was prepared and relished by Sona,
 her mom and Farah.<br />

The fun element to the episode was added by popular TV actors Rithvik
 Dhanjai and Karan Wahi who pulled off some quirky stints in order to 
woo Sonakshi. The icing on the cake was Rithvik’s mimicry of Sona’s 
father Shatrugan Sinha. “Khamosh!” was all we could her the actor  say!<br />

Next week will see Karan Johar as a celebrity guest who will share 
screen space with popular TV hunks Karanvir Bohra and Karan Tacker. Its

Karan Johar’s ambitious venture Shhuddhi has hit a roadblock again. First, the filmmaker had a tough time to zero down the male lead for his film and now its taken a backseat as his hero Salman Khan will reportedly start filming for Yash Raj’s Sultan after wrapping up Kabir Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan. It was being said that the Being Human star would start shooting for Shhuddhi after BB. However, if the latest grapevine is true then that’s not case at all. Johar’s venture has been in the pipeline for a long time but it seems the Dharma head honcho will have to wait a little longer to see it go on floors. While talking to a leading tabloid, a source said, “Shhuddhi has already been delayed due to a few changes in the cast. Now, it has been postponed further as Salman will shoot for Sultan after completing Kabir Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan.”<br /><br />Ali Abbas Zafar, who will be directing Sultan, told the tabloid, “We will have some clarity about his dates in a month or so once he is done with Bajrangi Bhaijaan.”<br /><br />While Dabangg Khan is busy with Bajrangi Bhaijaan at the moment, Deepika Padukone who will be seen opposite the superstar in Sultan, has Bajirao Mastani on her plate currently. The duo will start working on Sultan once they are done shooting for their ongoing projects.

Before I begin the review of Fifty Shades of Grey I’ll throw out some figures for you. Fifty Shades of Grey, the book by EL James was bought by over a 100 million people. Since the film’s release, it has broken big Box office records and made approximately $486,655,875 (that’s around $487 million). So basically in a short span of 17 days, Fifty Shades has created quite a storm. And these figures make me sad. Mainly because I watched the film and much to my non-surprise I found out that it is as ridiculous as a fictional movie can get, and when I say fictional I mean cowboys and aliens’ fiction! I would gladly watch KRK’s Deshdrohi over this and find more meaning in it’s plot!<br /><br /><b>The Plot</b><br /><br />The plot of the film is pretty simple. There is a horny English Major Anastasia Steele (played tolerably by Dakota Johnson) who is super attracted to this rich billionaire named Christian Grey (played annoyingly by Jamie Dornan) and she voluntarily gets into an contract-based agreement (Grey takes his kink very seriously) with him because oh, yes, you guessed it, he is kind of hot and her only shot at having a boyfriend. Thus, begins the excruciatingly painful journey to the “red room” where she gets flogged, tied up and REALLY hurt, just because she wants some action in her life and doesn’t know of conventional methods to get it.<br /><br /><b>NO love in the ‘Love-story’</b><br /><br />Now before you dismiss me as some prude without an open-mind, let me tell you that I am cool with BDSM. But that becomes the sole reason for Christian and Anastasia to start a warped relationship and I don’t get that, at all! To be fair to Anna, she is falling for creepy Grey despite all the hitting and hurting (Stockholm Syndrome, I guess) but the tool-bag that he is, Grey just wants her to be his sex slave. As a “reward” for her services Mr Grey even promises to act like a normal person on certain weekdays, AWW so sweet *retches*<br /><br />It is revealed during the course of the film that Christian was introduced to the dominant-submissive style of sex-having by his mother’s friend when he was, wait for it, 15. Isn’t that like child abuse or something? Anyway, he doesn’t have a frame of reference on how to have sex like a regular person and Anna is the perfect person to come aboard on this twisted contractual agreement of dominant and submissive because she is a virgin and has no frame of reference at all. How convenient!<br /><br /><b>Dumb vs Douchebag</b><br /><br />As their “relationship” progresses (I found Haider’s relationship with Ghazala to be more normal than their’s) Anna falls hard for Christian and wants him to be her bf forever. But Christian’s douchebaggery comes in the way because he doesn’t do romance. So Anna asks to be punished by Christian as she thinks that is the only way she can understand why Christian is like this (at this point picture my brain being licked off a wall by a cat) He whacks her black and blue with a solid leather belt and she regrets having asked for the punishment, duh!<br /><br />And quite illogically after having been his sex pet for the entire film, in the end she tells Christian to “Stay!” (like how you would tell a dog to stay in one place, that.) The film ends abruptly leaving me with a sinking reminder that the book it was adapted from was part of a trilogy!<br /><br /><b>The not-so-sexy Christian Grey</b><br /><br />Let’s talk about the lead actors Jamie and Dakota for a sec. While I liked Dakota’s commitment to the role of a hormonal weirdo, I was plain irritated by Jamie’s presence in the film. Why would you cast this guy? He is not attractive, he has an odd body (notice his abs on his chest), he has a speech impediment and he looks totally harmless! There is zero intensity in his eyes. I think he regretted taking up the part while shooting for the film. There was nothing ‘intimidating” (as Anna keeps saying) or sexy about this Christian. To me he was just a freak who grossed me out every time he had a scene! If I were Dakota, I would only have been worried about Jamie spitting on my face during all his lines because it looks like he has some weird spit buildup in his mouth every time he is about to speak!<br /><br /><b>The sexually starved Anastasia Steel</b><br /><br />Having made my feelings about Christian and Jamie crystal clear I’d want to talk about Anastasia’s character. Now I am an English major myself. I am also about the same age as she is. But I would NEVER go for an offer to be some rich guy’s sex slave just because he “noticed” me. Did Literature teach you nothing, Anna? Women fought relentlessly to be treated as human beings and with your sex drive you just set the clock back by 100 years! Is having a boyfriend, no matter what it entails, the be all and end all of your life? Aren’t you educated enough to realise that he has made you sign a contract to be his bitch?<br /><br />My biggest problem with Fifty Shades is it’s portrayal of BDSM. Being kinky can be a part of your sexual tastes, it definitely should not be the sole purpose of your existence. The message this film sends out is that horny women who want a boyfriend will be up for anything. It’s portrayal of Anna reduces women to an unthinking, irrational and sexually-starved gender! And I, being a woman, am offended by that representation. Had I been Anastasia I would either have thrown garbage at Christian and reported him to the police or would have sought medical/psychological help for him! And it is sad that there are millions of women out there who don’t feel the same way as I do.
