Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif are in a relationship, they are working together in films, they are spending time with each other, they are in a live-in relationship, they are engaged and soon-to-be-married. Huh! These are headlines we read every other day. The couple’s every outing, holiday and party is watched closely. Such is the excitement around this ‘it’ couple of B-town that speculations about their secret engagement make headlines at least once a month.
Are we sick of it? Nah! In fact, it’s like watching the great Indian Bollywood circus. Not so long ago it was Salman Khan‘s wedding that everybody was talking about. Khan himself was so sick of his marriage question that he decided to talk about it more and more. Till a point where everyone else figured out that he would remain the hot and forever happening eternal bachelor of Bollywood.
Bhaijaan’s successor to this throne was none other than Jr RK. Well, his success and fan following apart from the Casanova image made him the perfect replacement. Also the two had a common ‘Kat’ factor. However, unlike Sallu here are three reasons why Ranbir-Katrina have not managed to kill the curiosity around their much hyped affair…
# Media ban: Both Ranbir and Katrina have shied away from talking openly to the press or taking the relationship questions heads-on. What’s worse is that the actor has cut short on all his filmi promotions and even issued a diktat to his parents to steer clear of any personal comments and pictures on his personal life. May be the couple could take a lesson or two from Salman or for that matter we liked how Alia Bhatt recently shot back at a reporter on being quizzed about her relationship with Sidharth Malhotra.
# Casanova image: The Bombay Velvet hero’s flirtatious image continues to follow him like his shadow even today. Despite being in a steady relationship with Ms Kaif for almost three years now and living in with her, there is a suspicion as far as RK’s marriage is concerned. People often assume that Ranbir si not ready for marriage, at least not yet! This despite the actor stating, “I want to have a family, have children. So, when I get engaged, I will certainly announce it.” The fact that there’s a belief that this relationship might not make it to the altar.
# Career: Both these actors are at the peak of their career and are equally ambitious. Work often keeps them busy and away. And out of sight these actors’ lives create more and more speculations. Katrina has however rubbished this, in a recent interview she said, “Actresses like Madhuri and Sridevi have worked till the time they’ve wanted to. I think what happens with most women…it’s law of nature…if they choose to get married and if they choose to have a family…and that will take her away from work for that particular time. Otherwise, I think women work as long as they choose to. Kajol is doing great work till today, Aishwarya (Rai) has started doing some amazing work now. It’s up to the individual…how much he or she is interested in pursuing and developing art.” Clearly, the fact that these two individuals have a life beyond being in love makes it difficult for gossip mongers to understand that they are ready to wait until the right time comes.
