First day collections, Bang Bang, Kick, Haider

Grapevine has it that Bang Bang grossed almost 27 crores on the opening day. Salman Khan’s Kick
grossed about 26.30 crore on its opening day. However, the official
statement is yet to come, it is pretty much evident that Salman’s record
 has been thrashed by Hrithik.

Kick, released on a non-holiday weekend and was happy to have no releases for the next two weeks, however, Bang Bang released on a holiday weekend but has got tough competition from Shahid Kapoor’s Haider, which is also doing great business alongside. Haider is also getting some great appreciations from the critics and that is making it even tougher for Hrithik’s Bang Bang.

Bang Bang has got mixed reviews from both audience as well
as critics. But because of the humongous publicity of the movie it has
had a great opening. However, Shahid’s Haider too has opened up
to great viewership and it is assumed that it will grow even more by
word of mouth. So for either films to break Kick‘s record they have to really impress the audiences, lest they will just die out in the gamut of films.</div>

Bang earns 27.54 crore on 1st day, breaks records

Bang Bang
is riding high on incredibly positive word of mouth from audiences. The
film marks Hrithik’s biggest opening of his career. This means Katrina
Kaif now has three out of five films in the highest opening of all time –
a feat that none of the other actresses in Bollywood have.

With never-seen-before action sequences, Hrithik and Kat looking
absolutely stunning with each other, superhit music, Hrithik back to
dancing and a pacy story – the hottest film of 2014 was expected to take
a humongous start the the box office and it did. Bang Bang
opened across the country at 90 percent occupancy and continued it’s
glorious run at the counters through the day. Produced by Fox Star
Studios, Bang Bang has been directed by Siddharth Anand.</div>

Siddharth Anand’s big budget film Bang Bang starring Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif in the lead will finally hit the theatres tomorrow. But it’s not a solo release. Vishal Bhardwaj’s highly anticipated flick Haider starring Shahid Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor, Tabu, Kay Kay Menon and Irrfan Khan is also releasing simultaneously. Since it’s a five day weekend (the longest one this year) both the films should ideally do good business. However, they both have their own advantages and disadvantages. While Bang Bang is a commercial film, Haider isn’t a conventional Bollywood film. And though a Vishal Bhardwaj film always garners critical acclaim, it never witnesses an earth shattering opening at the ticket windows. And this could very well be the case with his latest offering, hai na peeps? On the flip side, despite being not such a typical Hindi film, the Shahid-Shraddha starrer has managed to create great buzz. Also, the film’s music has been appreciated widely. Not to forget, team Haider left no stone unturned in promoting their film. As for Bang Bang, the promotional strategy of the film wasn’t really aggressive and neither did the lead pair go all out to market their action thriller. In this case, Bhardwaj’s revenge-drama surely has an upper hand. But the big question still remains – which film will race ahead in the numbers game? Well, wethinks the box office battle is well poised for now. Also, Bang Bang and Haider belong to two completely different genres so the makers of both the films don’t have to worry about their target audience.</div>

Govindudu Andarivadele has caught on quite well with the audience. Directed by Krishna Vamsi, this film will see Ram Charan and Kajal in lead roles. After a  lot of promotions, this family entertainer has hit the theatres today. Our reviewer Subramanian Harikumar is watching the film at the moment and has sent us his first impression of the film. Subramanian says “GAV tells the story of Balraju played by Prakash Raj, who is the head of a small village suffering from dearth of medicines and doctors. When his doctor son wants to move to America for a better life instead of serving the poor in the village, Prakash Raj severs all ties with his son. Years later, Balraju’s grandson, Abhiram played by Ram Charan, returns to India to reunite the prodigal son with his angry father Balraju. Once he reaches the village, he gets acquainted to the big family of Balraju and falls for his aunt’s daughter played by Kajal Aggarwal. Does Abhiram succeed in reuniting his father with his grandfather forms the rest of the story. The cinematography is brilliant and the film boasts grand production value. But alas same cannot be said about the story which is filled with clichés which we have already seen in multiple family dramas in the past. Prakash Raj gives a strong performance as an angry old man who doesn’t forgive. Ram Charan does a decent job but his expressions leave you with lot to be desired. Kajal Aggarwal aptly adds the oomph quotient in the film. The chemistry between the two leads is not so great. Lets see if the manages to spring in a few surprises in the second half.” Keep watching this space for full review soon. Ever since the Ram Lakhan remake was announced there has been immense speculation on the casting of the film. There have been several theories doing the rounds on who will reprise the roles of Anil Kapoor and Jackie Shroff from the original. Several names have been doing the rounds and we were the first ones to tell you that Ranbir Kapoor is in the running for playing the role of Lakhan in the film. Now there is buzz that Deepika Padukone might be cast opposite him in the role played by Madhuri Dixit. Given the fact that Deepika is a favourite of both Rohit Shetty with who she has delivered a huge hit in Chennai Express and Karan Johar whose production house gave her Yeh Jawani Hai Deeewani. Even though no one is conforming or taking any names, there is serious talk that Deepika might just nab the role. Apparently Rohit is more keen on her than Karan given the fact that he has a phenomenal rapport with her. So, BollywoodLifers what do you think of this Ranbir-Deepika casting in the Ram Lakhan remake. Let us know your thoughts.

Aamir Khan’s first PK poster had created a lot of controversy when it came. Just recently we came to know that Kanti Shah’s upcoming film OK also has a similar poster. Director Kanti Shah has stunned everyone by the movie poster just like Rajkumar Hirani did with his.

In PK’s poster Aamir was seen posing nude with only one transistor, in Kanti Shah’s OK we
can see a nude Poonam Rai posing with only a camera. When contacted by a
leading daily Kanti Shah informed that the film revolves around
prostitution. He said, “OK is a story about a school girl and her friend
and what happens when they see a couple next door making out. Even
though there is a lesbian angle as well to this otherwise ‘normal love
story’, I am sure that the film will be well received by everyone. The
film deals about the growing up of a girl into a woman. The lead
protagonist of the film hails from a very poor background and due to the
lure and want of money, she slowly gets introduced into prostitution.
The lead heroine’s Her name is Poonam Rai. And she is definitely a name
to watch out for as far as upcoming talents are concerned.” Kanti Shah
is famous for making films like MMS Kaand, Free Entry, Angoor, Phoolan Hasina Ramkali, Jallad No. 1, Meri Jung Ka Elaan, etc.

Wethinks if the poster of Aamir’s film got clouded in controversy, then definitely OK
may also get into legal constraints. So go ahead BollywoodLifers, have a
look at both the posters and let us know your thoughts on the same.

Bollywood divas Deepika Padukone and Bipasha Basu entered theatres with Finding Fanny and Creature 3D respectively,
but neither could rock the box office. If Deepika’s English language
quirky drama has appealed to niche audience, Bipasha’s scary film did
not have too many takers either, say experts.

Both films came out Friday. Finding Fanny has managed to collect approximately Rs.10 crore, while Creature 3D could manage to earn Rs.6.88 crore in two days. For Finding Fanny, Homi Adajania went behind the camera, while Vikram Bhatt helmed Creature 3D. ”Finding Fanny has
earned close to Rs.10 crore. Masses won’t go for movies like ‘Finding
Fanny’. It is popular in big cities like Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore,”
Rajesh Thadani of Multimedia Combines told. However, the film starring Deepika Padukone,
Arjun Kapoor, Naseeruddin Shah, Pankaj Kapur and Dimple Kapadia has
been recommended by celebrities like Shekhar Kapur, Anupam Kher and Neha
 Dhupia.

The box office business of Creature 3D indicates that it has
not succeeded in its endeavour of scaring people. Also starring Imran
Abbas, Bhatt’s directorial has not received encouraging feedback. ”The
genre and 3D aspects are interesting, but the subject is not strong,”
said Thadani. Film critic Anupama Chopra also tweeted: “This creature
should have demanded a better script.”
